#3 // Test results

Exactly one week after having my blood drawn, we got the results.

Dr. C called me while I was at work – "Joanna, her test came back normal."

Tears. Immediate tears.

We had spent all week researching Trisomy 13 and coming to peace with that diagnosis. There is an incredible support network of parents out there with amazing, expectation-breaking T13 children. These families are so full of joy in the face of their diagnosis. Reading the parent boards gave me so much hope. No matter what, I knew we could handle it. It would be hard, but she would be our perfect daughter no matter what.

We understood the test wasn't diagnostic, but with a supposed 92-98% detection rate, we felt pretty confident) There was still a long road ahead of us, no doubt. Her anomalies were all still present. But she very likely did NOT have Trisomy 13.

Lane summed it up best when I called him with the news, "THANK GOD."
